"all this from a bunch of grapes" what a comment from the gentleman. Such a magical moment between these 3, and that 1 bottle!

I had such an immense respect for Steven Spurrier. In fact this is not the first time I heard about this "magical Port kick" that whipped him in his childhood. I somehow got what I consider to be a similar "magical kick" at 11 years old with Port, although it was from Madeira. After his death I found a 1955 vintage Cockburn's I barely paid 650$. I will eventually drink this phial with precious friends who share my desire to honor the life of this incredibly great man, on a very special evening, with the only 1973 Chateau Montelena that we could find on this side on the Atlantic. RIP Steven Spurrier, you are deeply missed.

Thanks so much for providing these ‘Director’s Cut’ versions of this footage. I’ve watched the original more times than I can count as I adore it, so this is a real treat.

I remember walking between tasting events in central London and bumping in to Steven. We walked the rest of the way together and I had a brief story about his vines or his English sparkling wine label... A private moment with a wine icon ♥

Fascinating to hear the breadth of the conversation especially with the historical context.

Sadly, Steven is no longer with us - this seems to have been made in 2018. I used to live just a few doors away from him in Litton Cheney, Dorset.

I became a Sommelier 15 years ago. Fred was a legend then and is a legend now. The way he holds the bottle was a choice given to us at the school. It was either the &quot;old classic way&quot; or the modern, &quot;hold it from the bottom in an upright stance&quot; way.<br>As a Somm I believed I was there to honor the wine and the craftsmanship behind it, not the other way around. I&apos;ve always served wine like Fred.
