  When you were telling the stories about the man who got in your vehicle and took you to the bridge, it reminded me of my experience Chania Crete. We went to a restaurant right across from the harbor and ordered food. I started chatting with the server and within 20 minutes had invited him to sit down and share the meal. We ate and talked for over four hours. He told us his heritage and history. The pride he took in his restaurant. We took shot after shot of ouzo to celebrate everything. It was absolutely the best day of the entire trip throughout Greece. It was in 2011 and I remember it like yesterday.

  Thanks Doug and Jack !   The only good thing about the Covid lock down was it got me back into Homer.  I've enjoyed both of your podcasts immensely .  Cheers.

  Interesting I didn&apos;t think about how Platonism and Stoicism are opposites, but now that you discuss how much you like the former, and dislike the latter, &nbsp;I can see how there is dichotomy there. When I look at that dichotomy I think about what John Lennon said, &quot;God is a concept by which we measure our pain.&quot; Love and pain are two things that seem to occupy totally different areas of our thoughts, but they are actually inseparable, and If I was going to give my condensed view of Plato&apos;s version of Love is that it&apos;s a black widow. This philosophy of perfection belies the reality that what is beautiful is often deadly, and it leads to the natural understanding that when you are happiest you are likely going to be crying, the highest tenant of this philosophy is to sacrifice yourself for someone you love. &nbsp;If we could describe Platos God she would be femme-fatalel, the thing that makes you do things that you shouldn&apos;t and lose yourself to the point where you serve an end that leads to your own demise.
