What's one thing that living alone has taught you about yourself? Or if you are not living alone -- what's something you've learned about yourself in this season of life?

I am 88 year old and have just moved into an apartment in TX after leaving CA where I was born, married, raised my family, worked as a nurse and buried my husband. I am in good health, have a a car and all the freedom one could want, but lack motivation to go out and get involved with life. Just taking care of my needs does not feel rewarding. Yet, I don’t want others to depend on me. Wishing I could
develop some of your enthusiasm for life!

I never lived alone in my life until I got divorced. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself and will never give it up for any man.

Living on my own is the greatest gift I have ever received. After 70 years of loving and caring for others my life revolves around myself.

    Dear Cindy,

When I got divorced, it was right after my youngest got married. Suddenly, I went from being a wife and mother to not really knowing who I was. I was still a mother, but my kids no longer lived with me.

I floundered for a little while, but then began to realize that my true identity was in Christ. And that actually, being a daughter of the King had been my true identity all along.

There is a verse in Isaiah that says, "your Maker is your husband; the Lord of Hosts is His Name; the God of the whole earth He is called."

I thought to myself, "now THAT is a good husband!

I have been very
content ever since that day. I am blessed to have wonderful friends. I stay active in my church. I enjoy gardening and taking care of my home. I love the quiet!

Best of all, I am never alone, because Christ is always with me.

Turning the TV on because the silence hurt… then eventually turning it OFF because the silence became peaceful. That’s such a quiet picture of healing. ❤ Same room, same silence, completely different woman.

I discovered just how much criticism I had to face every single day when I was a Mom and a wife. What I bought at the grocery store, what I cooked, how I cooked, my choices for shampoo, how I cleaned, what I listened to, what I read, how I folded clothes, I mean EVERYTHING! I realized I had not put up proper boundaries and discovered that I was letting people walk all over me. Whenever I tried to make boundaries, they were broken, but I did not enforce them. The peace I get from doing whatever I want when I want without hearing all of this is something I didn't even know I needed so badly. Now, with new relationships I don't let this happen anymore. If it starts to happen I am free to choose to keep the person in my life. I will never allow others to disrespect me again.

Since being alone I have finally learned that being alone has given peace to me, wouldn't trade it for anything. Not intetested in men anymore, they never gave me peace like I'm now experiencing 😕

After I became a widow, I believed my relationship with God has helped me not to be lonely, depressed or sad. He is a friend to the friendless. By the way, I love the scenery in your video. It looks sound interesting.
