It can be used to heat a home. &nbsp;it stores and releases latent heat when it changes phases from a solid to a liquid at a specific temperature. <br><br>How this works: &nbsp;Glauber’s salt has a melting point of 90.3°F (32.4°C), making it ideal for passive solar heating.Charging (Daytime): As sun shines through a south-facing window, the room heats up. Once the room reaches 90°F near the window, the Glauber&apos;s salt melts. During this phase change, it absorbs a massive amount of heat without getting any hotter itself. This keeps the room from overheating during the day.Discharging (Nighttime): When the sun goes down and the indoor temperature drops below 90°F, the liquid salt begins to freeze back into a solid. As it solidifies, it releases all that stored latent heat back into the room, keeping the space warm overnight.

  When I was a child in Poland these tall heaters were installed in rooms they were beautiful decorative &nbsp;and very efficient

  Joshua Tree Monument. Rocks get 120 in the heat of the day. When the temps drop to 40 at night, the rocks are 80 degrees to sleep on.

  &quot;Glauber&apos;s salt&quot; is easy to find for sale, but it is almost always the &quot;anhydrous&quot; form, meaning no water. MUST we use the water-bearing salt, &quot;decahydrate&quot;? One supplier said you can convert anhydrous --&gt; decahydrate simply by adding water. Intuitively that makes sense but I&apos;m not certain it will actually work.
