  The biggest flaw I always saw in Thanos&apos; plan was he was determined to wipe out 1/2 of all life. Not <i>intelligent</i> life. Just life. So, 1/2 of all sentient life. 1/2 of all animals. 1/2 of all plants. So, in theory, instead of more resources per capita for the remaining life, he wiped out 1/2 of their food supply, as well. 🤷

  The thing about AM is that from its perspective it didnt win. It lost by virtue of existing. We only think AM won because we died. AM wanted humanity to suffer eternally and it never fully succeeded it himself says it can never be free AM can never win because it will never be able to feel.

  I read The Lottery in my high school literature class. We were all expecting it to be about winning the lottery, like huge amounts of money. The deeper we went into the story, the more confused we got. By the end, the whole class was absolutely horrified at what it was all about. The teacher said we all wore the same expression on our faces.

  Let’s be honest sometimes when the villain wins, it actually feels more realistic than the forced happy endings. Maybe that’s why people find them disturbing… they hit too close to home

  I can shed some light on why K is having to defend himself in The Trial: from Kafka&apos;s notes, he forgot his mother&apos;s birthday. The fact that it&apos;s so mundane makes it horrifying, but having it never be explained is a far more powerful message.

  While Harvey Dent succumbed to his own worst qualities (Visible before he became Two-Face) both the prisoners and ordinary citizens on the ferries resisted the Joker&apos;s corruption, showing that a community working together can reliably achieve more than a single leader falsely put on a pedestal above all men. The urge to conform can lead to evil behaviour, but also its avoidance, while the outstanding qualities of an exceptional person are necessary for the existence of outstanding evil. As the Screwtape Letters put it, trapping a fly can be harder than shooting an elephant.

  Nurse Ratchet didn&apos;t win. Sure she may have succeeded in getting Jack lobotomized but only after he beat her ass to the point he broke her neck and she had to wear a cast. Noone was afraid of her after that and she became milder after she got her comeuppance, and Jack&apos;s bravery convinced Chief to escape after he euthanized Jack who was left a vegetable. In the end her petty totalitarianism was met with fists and her authority was stripped to nothing.
