  As someone with bipolar, watching Ian&apos;s struggle with it as an adolescent myself really made me feel seen and feel hope. It&apos;s a condition that makes you feel unlovable and it alienates you from yourself. It&apos;s so hard to feel stable. I haven&apos;t seen it represented as earnestly and honestly in media before. Ian&apos;s arch with bipolar equalized his dynamic with Mickey. He needed to experience that so that he could learn to accept help and survive the lows.
