A child abandoned by the village will burn it down to feel it's warmth...

The scene where Homelander takes Ryan to Planet Vought and Ryan gets overwhelmed is a glimpse of the kind of person/parent he could have been. It's one of the few instances of HL showing genuine love and concern. It's credibility sad because there still exists a shred of humanity in him.

Homelander is funny ONLY bc he doesn’t exist in our reality as a real person
Edit: my neurons activated. Sigh he’s less funny now

Contrary to popular belief; Narcissists can't love themselves adequately, as their childhood was universally full of purely conditional love, teaching them a model of self-respect that's solely reliant on external validation. Homelander was made to dependent on that name and title as the only the only stable constant beside the horrific conditions that he had.

One of Homelander's Psychological Profile stated that It's a mix of aggression. manipulation. and a desperate need for adoration that is molded through hours of conditioning to embody the ideal American Hero. but his tragic upbringing led to the emergence of sociopathic alternate personality and a mechanism to endure the torment he faced.

Homelander's evolution in Season 5 is where he transcends his hunger for power and pursues literal godhood. even Karl Urban's confirmation reveals a character who has seized the White House and imposed martial law that is driven by a desperate attempt to fill the emotional void from his traumatic past to examine the paradox at the heart of his villainy as he becomes increasingly godlike, he reveals his profound humanity, making him more terrifying than ever.

I despise my parents. I despise many parents. Homelander is not uncommon by any means. There are millions of broken children in adult bodies walking around. I'm just waiting to die at this point.

The actor Anthony Starr did a good job portraying the character. The difference is you're meant to hate Homelander and the writers are aware of that. sure there's a degree of him being a product of his environment but that doesn't excuse or negate any of his actions nor how evil and unforgivable he is.

A lot of homelanders issues come from the fact he was raised by people who have no conscience and never bothered to raise him like a normal person, instead they treated him like an test subject and he grew up a broken child into an adult suddenly showered with everything he could want, it isn't until butcher that homelander finds someone like him and from there the events/forces that shaped them lead into an catastrophic shit show that were all watching play out as homelander completes his descent into insanity unable to handle the events the shows story throws his way since he lacks the upbringing to do so, The real villian of this show has always been vought and since homelander has now become it, its now a two for one shot in butchers view, man there's a lot of context to this show

I'm only 7:25 min in but this is so fucking good finally someone who Understands. Almost everyone falls for the distraction of the violence and politics when one of the most psychologically fascinating villains is in front of them
