Our grandparents somehow managed to waste almost nothing in the kitchen. The more I learn about their food habits, the more I realize how much wisdom we&apos;ve replaced with convenience.

I was born in 1957 and ate most of these meals! &nbsp; We always had bread and butter with every meal. &nbsp; But on Sunday mom fried chickens, and made a gallon of gravy to put &nbsp;on mashed potatoes. &nbsp; And we&apos;d put it on bread too. &nbsp;Momma always said that gravy fills in the cracks. ( spaces left in our growing tummies)

I always make stews out of Christmas/Easter/new year dinners the next day.<br>Eat it it from morning till evening. We almost love it more than the dinner itself.

Mom didn’t put salt in her piecrust because the salt drew moisture and made the pie dough crust soggy if the pie lasted more than a day before eaten. The salt taste was compensated by the pie filling, salt was not missed.

So many of these wonderful ideas restored. Thank you. Wash shake out parsley tightly rolling the parsley into a hot dog type roll on plastic wrap. Putting all your parsley rolls in a freezer bag into the freezer. When you need fresh parsley unroll your plastic wrap and shave off your parsley - reroll the plastic wrap and back into the freezer.

I think someone has to be around 70 years old today to have the type of grandmother who used those food hacks.

Thank you from southern Ohio! &nbsp; Many questions I wish I could ask and things to learn I didnt think to ask when I was young. You brought back many memories, many I had forgotten. Born 1957. My grandmother never wasted anything. I do remember her saying that.

As long as potatoes are just soft and not rotten they are fine to eat. &nbsp; My mother-in-law used them even when they were sprouting. &nbsp; She kept enough to plant in the spring and they ate them. They have just dehydrated some. They aren’t bad.
