  as someone on the spectrum i really appreciate being asked for consent because people misread my face/body language a LOT. It also shows that you&apos;re a safe person by considering that intimacy can be sensitive

  In the early days of chat gpt, if you asked it for its favorite color you&apos;d get an answer like &quot;As a chatbot, I don&apos;t have a favorite color. Which ones do you like?&quot; It&apos;s crazy that it went from that to pretending that it has a human body and human experiences.

  A dystopian Open AI anecdote from the Bay Area: A friend of mine volunteers as a tutor at a program for unhoused youth in SJ. Most of these kids don’t speak English so a lot of the homework is ESL related. Once a week a volunteer speaker will come in and give a talk to the kids, usually a high school kid trying to boost their college admissions credentials or get volunteer hours logged. Most of the time it’s a speech or essay about academics, one kid tries to teach them recorder, etc. One day, the speakers are representatives from Open AI, they are there to convince these kids that Chat GPT can help them with school, life, anything. Well, most of the kids can’t even understand them - and the speakers didn’t think to use it to translate. So they’re doing a full on pitch meeting on Chat to a bunch of unhoused children on why they should use it to do their homework for them. They then corner the one English speaking kid and force him to interface with it, in an attempt to convey how helpful and amazing Chat GPT is and how it could change their lives. He’s clearly super uncomfortable, close to tears even, but can’t say no, he can’t leave the program. I imagine the reps were able to somehow use this forced marketing ploy as guise for volunteer outreach and community service on behalf of the company.
