  I just can’t handle the sight of anymore footage out of Gaza especially in the context of the criminalization of free speech surrounding who’s to blame here in the US.

  This was a truly helpful and enlightening conversation. As a person over 65 I wish I could express how strange and striking it has been to witness American sympathy shift from Israel to Palestine. When I was young, one of my first musical memories was of my sister learning to play "This Land Is Mine" (the theme from *Exodus*, inspired by the Leon Uris novel) on the piano, from which I absorbed the lyrical lesson that supporting modern Israel would always be an eternal touchstone for morality in policies of the United States. For this to change (and it has changed) represents many surprising things. One of those is that Netanyahu, who understood the American voter better, perhaps, than anyone in previous history, knowingly sacrificed the Israeli-U.S. alliance to obtain a new round of Middle Eastern wars. He got those wars, and largely got Americans to pay for them, yet sacrificed the alliance to get them. No American child will ever again grow up, as I did, literally equating support for modern Israel with morality in one of their most definitive early exposures to music itself. That touchstone is gone. An Israeli leader chose to burn that down. This doesn't mean that America suddenly supports Hamas, or excuses that organization's own embrace of genocidal impulses, or would stand aside and let any enemy obliterate a nation that we helped build. What it means is that we will never again trust Israel or the American policy of automatic support for Israel as moral or humanitarian or worthy of American commitment. By imbibing such trust, we gravely erred, becoming complicit in war crimes of the most vicious character, crimes lethal to the most innocent conceivable civilians on a massive scale, destructive to practically every city block in Gaza, and plainly intended by Israeli leaders to prevent any possibility of peace ever developing between their nation and their current enemies. It's bad, and our nation has barely begun to process its impact on us.

  There is no difference between Osama Bin Laden and Benjamin Netanyahu, in fact Netanyahu is killing people each and every day but the US cannot label him as a terrorist

  Why does every American administration take us to war? Answer : wall street. Everything the US does is about imperialism for profits. War is very good for the oil industry and for defense contractors. The money just gushes. The dead babies just come with the scenery.<br><br>I have always believed that the Gaza conflict was about real estate. Those Palestinians are sitting on a piece of prime waterfront property. I think if you want to understand why human beings do these horrible things to each other, just follow the money.
