“She’s going to pretend like she’s in trouble”. Isla Fisher legitimately got her shackles caught on the bottom of the tank during filming, and the shot that was used for the scene was her actual panic.

This movie is fairly nonsensical at times, but it's all in good fun. I absolutely love it

For us viewing your reaction it’s better when you don’t figure it out. We absolutely hate it when it’s figured out. We like the surprise on your faces.

That trick in the beginning, there are more than one 7 of Diamonds in that deck, your mind fixates on it because you saw it more than once during the shuffle. Most people would pick it lol

The 7 of diamonds trick is making you fixate on a card when you riff the cards you slow slightly on the card you want them to see.

Then they fixate on it and get the card stuck in their brain (it never works on me sadly, i have friends who are millionaire magicians and they've tried it and for some reason suggestions dont work on me)

The take they used for isla fishers shot of her underwater was the take where the chain got stuck on the bottom of the tank and the crew thought she was just acting.

Had that single stuntman not noticed she was panicking for real she would've not been alive anymore, i think he flipped a switch and the water drained or something i cant remember but she tells the story on a lot of interviews because i would too since its horrifying

Great movie, and imo really good on a rewatch too. Knowing the ending and then going back and watching the early scenes is really interesting - watching more closely in the scene where Thaddius introduces the story of Lionel Shrike & trash talks him gave me a new appreciation for Ruffalo's acting.

3:50 The actress really was in trouble. Everyone thought Isla Fisher was acting it really well but unfortunately her chain really was stuck.
