  it&apos;s crazy to me that women who willingly choose to not have children are deemed selfish, yet the women who are involved with free birthing and have risked their own AND their child&apos;s life (risking preventable disabilities, or even their own death) don&apos;t get that nearly same treatment? <br>god I feel so sorry for those children more than anything

  My wife tried to VBAC after a C-section for our first child. She was close, 8cm or so dilated but the baby’s heart rate dropped <b>fast</b> and the whole team got her out of there and did an emergency C-section. I wasn’t allowed in the operating room. A week later, when we checked in with the nurse-midwife with our (healthy!) baby, I asked him what would have happened if we had just tried longer. He said “go to a cemetery and look at how many gravestones there are for babies who died at birth. We make these calls because we can, and in the past when that call couldn’t be made, many babies died.” Yes, death is part of life. But avoidable death due to negligence or ideology is tragic.

  Free birthing is not &quot; a movement&quot; a &quot;creating awareness program&quot; IT IS A GRIFT. Hippies so want us to believe they don&apos;t care about money, but CHARGE YOU dearly to be &quot;enlightened&quot;. If you want to be a better mom, READ, QUESTION, GO TO DOCTOR OR DULA, don&apos;t pat yourself on the back, and believe to be too special to make mistakes.

  My wife’s a NICU nurse. at least once a week she comes home with a horror story about a baby admitted because of a complication with home birth delivery.
