"Every mom used to be a stay at home mom" isnt actually true. Lower income families, especially POC families, often had both parents working. Having the mom stay home was only a universal thing for privileged people.

I love the stereotype that childfree women are just out partying and getting our backs blown out every two hours like girl I cleaned my apartment and took a three hour nap afterwards today lol. Like props to the party girls I love y’all but most of us are just using our extra free time getting extra sleep

It’s really funny that these women just saw a bunch of ADS from the 1950s and assumed that that’s how everyone actually lived.

Hi! Historian here! Actually not only working class women used to work. While it was less likely for upper class women to work physical jobs, many would manage a big household, with many employees. In addition, many had people helping raising the kids. They were not at home cooking, cleaning and raising the kids by themselves, even if they had the time. Kids would have nannies, tutors or go to boarding schools. Trad wives' idea of 'natural instinct' is not something that happened until the 1950s. Even then, it was mostly a western event and mostly for white people. <br><br>If women want to be stay at home moms, go off. But don't make other women feel bad for doing what they want.

Actually no, not every mother in the past was a stay at home mother the MINORITY was a stay at home mother just the rich ones. The majority of women AND KIDS worked and in a really early age for more hours than nowdays and for much less money

me and sister like to joke around saying we should just get ourselves a rich husband so we could stop studying and working and just be a stay at home. but every time we would joke that, my dad would go on about we should have our stable income to have as a backup instead just relying on a husband to give us the money. i fucking love my dad.

As someone who is graduating soon I am not thinking about being a girl boss or a housewife. No I am thinking about how the hell am I going to afford anything in this economy 💀

If after 4+ years of paying for college and spending so many late nights studying and doing coursework, I got to my graduation and some random man who's only important cuz he can kick a ball came on stage and told me I shouldn't be proud of my degrees cuz I'll only be fulfilled by marriage and babies... I think I would have rushed that stage.

In the note of the whole childless thing, I think it's very interesting that they shame the straight people for not wanting kids, but probably would shame me for wanting kids because I'm gay lol. Like I do want to have kids someday, and I'm sure that these people would be willing to call me every slur in the book for that. Even the ones that don't apply to me. It's just so funny to think about

I think tradwife content is interesting because it’s so ahistorical, not just the suburban stuff but the lack of birth control and abortions. Birth control and abortions go back thousands of years. They only started being policed in the 1860s or so for reasons you can probably guess. The reason the birth rates were so high is because the death rates were so high; you could have ten children and only three or four might make it to adulthood.

<b>Goes to Catholic school and talks about how excited the women should be to get married and have kids and how it's "lies" that you don't need that in life as a woman</b><br><b>The nuns that helped found the school and the women literally at the Catholic school to study theology to become a nun being like - "this dude knows we Catholic right?"</b>
