  The Beatles had George Martin who had a classical music background as their producer, which was a tremendous advantage for the Beatles.

  No song has ever captured that feeling of loneliness so well as Eleanor Rigby. People living and dying in isolation.The string quartet just adds to the emotion .❤️

  Empathy is a hall mark of Paul's writing whether it's the parents in She's Leaving Home or The Fool On The Hill or the lonely lives of Eleanor Rigby and Father Mackenzie .

  This song is a slap in the face to the illusion of caring community. We all die alone in the end, and unless you have loved ones, nobody really notices or cares when you're gone. These lyrics are brutal reality for most in the world.

  I absolutely love the raw, unprocessed sound of the instruments. It sounded like what you would hear if they were playing in your livingroom. It's like the wood is singing and not hidden from our ears.

  In my opinion, the greatest song about loneliness ever recorded. It's so clever the way the two characters, Eleanor Rigby and Father McKenzie, who don't appear to know each other but come together at the end when Eleanor Rigby sadly dies and Father McKenzie conducts her funeral service. Genius.

  This was revolutionary when it came out. Popular music was expected to be simple love songs &quot;I love her, she loves me, I&apos;m so happy&quot; or &quot;I love her she doesn&apos;t love me I&apos;m so sad&quot; and variations on those themes, with guitars and drums etc. &nbsp;Which is how the Beatles got started. So moving into topics like loneliness and using classical instruments, and doing it with such imagination and competence was a big shock for a lot of people. Some people loved the new depth and they gained new fans, others didn&apos;t like it. <br><br>It&apos;s worth finding old newspaper and magazine reports to see how people reacted to this &quot;new Beatles&quot;. It set them apart from other bands because of the depth and willingness to break out of conventions. <br><br>They weren&apos;t the only band stepping outside conventions, the Rolling Stones &quot;Paint It Black&quot; came out a few weeks before.
