  One thing to keep in mind before moving to PA is that it has an inheritance tax.

  I wouldn't want to live off rte 309. The Traffic is ungodly.

  100% agree that Doylestown is #1. We moved here in 2002 for work. Now approaching retirement, we have noplans of moving anywhere else.

  I know a lot of seniors in Philadelphia who say it makes more sense to retire here. Quite a few moved AWAY from the suburbs and INTO the city for retirement. No need to maintain a home and grounds (apartment living), no need to drive, top tier arts and culture within walking distance (with quite a few discounts and freebies for seniors), and literally every health care service here in town. I'll also note that the suburban jurisdictions around Philadelphia assess much higher property taxes than Philadelphia, which obtains a significant portion of its tax revenue through wage taxes retired folks aren't subject to. I love getting out of the city from time to time and some of these towns make a nice stop on the way to the countryside. But I don't consider living in any of them as a good value.

  Quakertown made the Guiness book for having the most places to eat in a 1 mile area. I think it was in the 1980’s

  Grew up in Bucks county and now live in Lehigh county. <br>It is expensive to live in Pennsylvania. &nbsp;<br>Not like New York or New Jersey, but much more then Florida, the Carolinas, or the mid west

  Take a look at the Avondale PA area. &nbsp; Minutes from tax free DE, &amp; right between the quaint small village/towns of Kennett Square, PA &amp; Hockessin, DE, this area is only going to get better as the reality that PA will be one of top 3 best states to retire for next 30 plus years.
