France also built an F-15 competitor, the Mirage 4000. But it was not bought by anyone so it was cancelled. But it had better flight performance in high and low speed than the F-15 with a slightly slower top speed. <br>Would have been so interesting to see how it performed in an air force as the only true western F-15 competitor

The Greek Air Force is the first air force in the world to shoot down a Turkish Air Force F-16 in an aerial combat using a Mirage 2000 over the Aegean Sea in 1996.

I had this book in the 80s about military aircraft, like an encyclopedia version. The Mirage 2000 was still in the prototype stage and most of its equipment and performance was 'classified' at the time. The prototype looked sweet in all white with blue and red stripes. Now that I'm grown up, I can finally know more about it, this is a real treat.
