The Hazbin character designs have always been a tad busy for my tastes, but I can never deny that they REALLY stand out from the competition. Especially compared to most adult animated shows trapped in that "ugly on purpose" sphere.

"Nothing else looks like hazbin hotel. " dude you are so right. The visual identity screams deviant art kid and I love it

The line between actual symbolism and rule of cool in this show is so hard to tackle, but I’m so glad you did

I love how professional this video is. Its a genuine critique, no personal attacks, no name calling, no hyperbolic statements or moral grandstanding. You were here to talk about art and what you thought of it. I feel like there is a great lack of this kind of content, especially anything having to do with Viv's work.

The fact that Skyen's yappage actually got me to sit through an entire ad instead of just skipping it, never change Skyen, never change

Nice to see an artistic analysis of Hazbin Hotel that isn't just 'Ugh, too much red!' or 'Ugh, Tumblr sexyman!'

The in depth anaylsis of the AD is both hilarious, out of nowhere, and GREATLY appreciated.

I really do think the way Hazbin is so drenched in fandom culture is what makes it appeal to people. Thematically the series is kinda gaudy and cheesy but in a way where if you were making your own original characters you probably wouldn't care about making a universe visually palatable for larger audiences you would just care about having fun. Not every design choice needed an in depth explanation all you would get is a "it looks cool" and that's about it. There is something so freeing about that mindset as a creator. Probably shallow artistically but very human as you put it. I'm just happy to see a fraction of late 2000s - early 2010s Deviantart scene culture survive even if the show isn't for me.
