  My favourite part about Black Mesa is the military radios and how panicked the marines are when they start losing aswell as how desperate they sound.

  Fun fact: You can skip the Black Mesa Gonarch fight in 2 ways, both involving a can of chemical inside the research base. You have to carry a carcinogen cannister to the first part of Gonarch&apos;s lair and inside a cave you pass through there&apos;s a teleporter. Before entering the final arena on the left there will be a cubby hole where you can either release the gas to kill it or just platform your way out of there.

  Valve said that Xen was rushed in HL1. Crowbar Collective did an amazing job with Black Mesa.

  Part of the thing you missed, and can not really re-capture is experiencing this in 1998. When this came out it was like any other game before it. The puzzles the story the environmental storytelling, everything about the first half life in its time was so unique and different that it just absolutely blew people&apos;s minds at what a video game could be. When I played half life for the first time in 1998 after playing countless numbers of dos games and other windows 95 games I can honestly say that half life was the most unique game that I have ever played it changed what thought of a video game. Half Life is not just a video game but its art. It&apos;s a multifaceted experience from the video game aspect to the storytelling aspect to the interactivity, Half Life was the first of its kind that really showed us what a game could be. You can never capture that lightning in a bottle again what we felt as a culture in 1998 when half life came out when we played it can never really be re experienced.
