I AM STILL BAFFLED AS TO HOW ANYONE COULD LOOK AT THAT PENCIL BUILDING IN NEW YORK and not use common sense without having to contact a single expert and not conclude it looks dodgy. It's way too thin and there would need to be too many countermeasures to stabilise it; more points of failure. Rich and experienced people bought it too, shocking!

This is such an old problem, too. In 1973, the then so-called Standard Oil building in Chicago lost a 350 pound block of marble, which penetrated the roof of the neighboring Prudential building. Not to mention other local buildings that lost entire panes of glass that came down onto the sidewalk.

Weird. It's like corruption has consequences and physics can't be bribed.

And yet buildings built 100 years ago are still standing exactly where they are supposed to with nothing but normal maintenance.

Funny that tall buildings built more than a century ago still work perfectly today; with reasonable maintenance can last forever. What they build today needs complete rebuilding in only two decades.

The Haves sue other Haves for corruption and willful neglect. The de rigueur secret settlements typically end with all involved Haves, not surprisingly, winning. Meanwhile, the HaveNots view all this and wonder how the Haves nearly always prevail. And abjectly plunder the HaveNots. America: Land of the Haves. And the increasing HaveNots. As you may recall from that novel about farms, we have here a state wherein the few are more equal than others.

This is just insane to see happening in 2026, with all the tech, new materials, ... But looks like there is s big missing of proper scrutineering over projects

If you’ve ever been involved in a construction related negligence lawsuit the skirting of responsibility and refusal to make good on mistakes is rampant. Our slow legal system with unending appeals and ways to avoid responding is often exacerbated by the whims of an underprepared judge or just one who is uninterested in recompense for those harmed by the original negligence. It’s expensive, unending and incredibly frustrating.

Entropy is a risky game. The ugliness is so transcendant, even nature responds in revulsion.

432 Park avenue is the biggest failure in a residential building. I can remember going back 25 years. I can't think of anything that has been a bigger financial and structural disaster than this and then the one after. This is the one at down by Wall Street at sink it but at least no one moved into it before. 432 is a disaster

I am more familiar with 632 Park Ave, so I would pick that one as the worst. Given the size of the building it should affect more people.
