  Fun fact, Alexander Hamilton’s Artillery unit, The New York Provincial Company of Artillery, was never disbanded after the revolutionary war.  That unit is still serving as an artillery battalion, 1-5 FA IN 1st ID out of Ft Riley Kansas

  As a Brit, it's nice to hear you giving us a shout in this topic properly. Even being British, what we learned about the Revolution was surprisingly pro-American. Obviously we were out of order in places, but we were trying to be more reasonable than I think most people realise

  &quot;No Taxation Without Representation&quot; was such a brilliant rallying cry. <br><br>Firstly it rhymes, has a poetic rhythm, and is easy to remember. <br><br>But each class heard in that what they needed to hear. The poor, who were needed as cannon fodder, heard the &quot;taxation&quot; part. <br><br>The wealthy elites, who would have to bankroll and organise all this, heard the &quot;representation&quot; part. They wanted a seat at the table... which they&apos;d use to carve out tax loopholes for themselves and enrich themselves further like the nobility in the motherland had done for centuries.

  Fun fact, the first American casualty of the revolution was Crispus Attucks, the first of five Americans to die after the Boston Massacre. Attucks was of Native American and African descent and may have even been a runaway slave at that time.

  Liberty&apos;s Kids, a children&apos;s historical cartoon, actually had a surprisingly in-depth explanation on the horrors of being tarred and feathered. In particular they visit a victim whose bedridden and in horrible pain after the tar burned his clothes onto his body.😬

  I cant describe how happy i am to see a re-reaction of Oversimplified,your reactions to Oversimplified are always a treat.<br><br><br><br><br>Even though this might seem a bit weird,this actually makes me feel nostalgic as the Oversimplified reactions are what originally led to me discovering my passion for history,the stories and characters of history and expanding my knowledge in general.   John Adams&apos; defense of the Boston &quot;Massacre&quot; soldiers is one of my favorite parts of the Revolutionary War narrative. Even those accused of the most heinous crimes are entitled to presumed innocence, effective counsel, and due process in America.

  There’s often an assumption that the Americans knew the ground better because they’re local, but the British were successful at Brandywine because they did know the ground better than the Continentals, and were able to make use of fords over the Brandywine that Washington didn’t know were there. Most of the Americans fighting were just as unfamiliar with the ground as the British, just depended on who best utilised the intelligence

  Personally, I think it’s always important to try and see things from different perspectives—when studying history—of a conflict, so I don’t mind your defense of the British in the beginning whatsoever.
