It's hard to except that nothing really helps. To me loss of good sleep is the worst

I have had bursitis in both hips for bout 5 years after a fall. I was running up the stairs, missed a step, and landed on the landing. I heard a loud pop in my hip and had excruciating pain. I thought I had broken something. The bursitis wasn’t immediate but came on within about a month. I am a side sleeper, and sleeping is when the pain is the worst.

I have "hip bursitis" in both hips.
I pinged my IT band in June 2025 and also in a separate incident, got groin strain in the other leg. However both conditions affected my physical ability and then I ended up with the hip pain in both legs.
It was really horrendous and sleeping was difficult. Lying on my back for a while night is not Ideal either. I've started doing hip specific exercises as I noticed sitting too long makes it worse. I've started doing more hip rotation exercises, and trying to improve leg weakness. I walk everywhere but I don't strength train and I think this is the big issue. Oh, also on HRT due to a hysterectomy.. so yes, I'm in the midst of navigating this issue.

I had this issue approx a year ago. I was away on holiday and it came out of the blue. I could hardly walk and had to purchase a walking stick just to get through the days. Once home I got physio treatment but nothing seemed to help. I went to 3 different practitioners, each given different advice and treatments. Eventually, with simple exercises to strengthen the affected side of my body, I came out the other side. Now, almost a year on, I am pretty much back to being fully mobile and pain free. I think a combination of time, and gentle exercise did the trick.

What helped me was physical therapy to strengthen the glutes, quads, hamstrings and having the PT do very deep stretches. I also had to stop long walks as that is probably what caused it. I also have scoliosis which tilts the hips.

I have suffered with this condition for eight years. It is absolutely debilitating. It has absolutely ruined my sleep. I have tried everything and the only thing that helps at all is injections, but they only last for 2 1/2 months. Thank you for this video, no one else has ever described the exact symptoms that I suffer with every day. Most doctors just do not seem to understand the severity of it.

Thankyou for the video . 15 years ago I was one of the people who was told my trochenteric bursa was inflamed and no conservative treatments made any difference . Finally had surgery to remove the bursa . To no effect i have seen many MD all saying the same . Any exercises i have been given have always exasperated the pain and i always feel like ive drawn a blank .Seeing over 50’s specialist physio at the moment . Great to see someone thinking outside the box for better outcomes .

I am 66 & started having intense pain, just as you described in October 2025. I am still employed & at the time was putting up the food truck at work, (heavy lifting). I went through invasive treatments like doing whatever to the bursa sack, injection into the joint & was treated as though I was lying because the pain wouldn't go away. I cut my work schedule, so I could skip putting up the truck which hit hard in the pocketbook. It has made a huge difference. I still take Tramadol 50 mg, but not as often, because I still have flare-ups of pain.

I was diagnosed with Bursitis in 2008. In 2011 I injured my back. I noticed that hiking up hill was causing pain on my hips, I could no longer run on a treadmill. Then I changed careers and became a dog trainer. I was extremely busy and active. Adding constant stress to the right side of my body. I began PRP treatment and was pain free for 9 months. In 2018 I began constant PT, Acupuncture & massage twice a month up until 2022. Now I just stretch and do some Yoga. Last week I saw a surgeon and he stated I most likely have Spinal Stenois causing my problems but waiting for MRI results. I hope by following this channel I can manage the pain.

In 2018 i was told by a doctor that i had hip bursitis after i had hip pain in my left hip after i did a 5K run without proper training in the lead up to the run. I literally felt like my leg was gonna fall off the next day and couldn't walk properly. Got prescribed naproxen but i never took it because i have high blood pressure and didn't want to mess with that. It gradually got better but ever since my hip still gets pain and has never felt the same since.
