  Hard disagree with the wood stacks vs placing in a chest. My base gets so cluttered with all the crafting tables and rest buff decorations, when you lay out large fields of wood stacks it makes things really slow to get things done. 2 regular chests hold an amazing amount of wood. My favorite wood strategy is to use the portal by the boss stones and use the elder power to whack down the forest around. Plant the seeds you gather so you don&apos;t need to go further out each time you need to do this.

  Having a portal hub in single player might be a waste of resources, but in multiplayer it&apos;s great to have a central hub so players can easily meet up, especially when everyone has their bases scattered around the world.

  i tried the no-portal-hub method, but having to re-dial portals every time got SUPER annoying extremely fast. I routinely travel between all my different bases back and forth. The wait period between hitting enter and the portal lighting up starts to feel SOOOOO LOOOONG after the 10th time. Nope. not for me. Portal hubs are extremely useful as well as being potentially really cool structures.

  A backup armor set is not a waste at all. Even you should know you wont always be in a position to just run in and grab your corpse and it can save you many runs back. Go in once reasonably protected or go back several times because you get snotted again before you can collect your gear. Very tedious if it&apos;s a longer run. If not armor at least eat and grab a rested buff. At the end of the day it&apos;s situational. Sometimes you can run straight back in but you will have times where a backup set is needed. No the bad habit here is not having a recovery plan.

  1. Portal hub maybe useful to have if you have dedicated areas to travel back and forth (traders, bosses, farms, etc) as long as you keep it compact, its annoying i had to type &quot;haldor&quot;, or &quot;hildir&quot; everytime I want to go between them, easier if i just sprint between portals.<br>Also make 1 dynamic portal in the hub specifically for traveling to a new checkpoint (make sure to mark the portal name on the map).<br><br>2. Disagree on the wood/stone stacks, if you&apos;re concerned with the space in the chest that is for other items, just make another chest in other area dedicated to the woods/stones.

  I could not imagine playing without a portal hub. I always have a central base where I can do crafting, storage my materials, and sleep.
