Hi Joe, Joe here. Big Hitachi fan...have more than a few: 2xSR903, 1xSR804, 1xSR703, 1x503L. One SR-903 (physically mint) sits in the family room...love it. After doing the basic inspection, dim bulb, and checking DC offsets, I upgraded to LED's and did some basic hobbyist maintenance...cleaned the controls, replaced some known problem transistors and a few caps here and there that tested OOS in circuit. Adj. the bias to spec then wrapped it with a nice vinyl wood grain, as the OEM black matte finish was rather dull to my eyes. The face plate is mint...sounds and looks terrific. For $150 plus some parts...it's a power house.

The SR804 already came revised (incl. LED's) but the OEM black matte vinyl had shrunk and pulled away from the vents, making it unsightly. Paid a whopping ~$60 for the unit on a local auction. After the dim bulb and checking of DC offsets...the unit only required a heat gun to remove the OEM wrap and replace with a high quality drift wood grain vinyl. That one now sits at the vacation apartment...paired to some nice Mordaunt Short speakers that I picked up for a song.

Lastly, the SR-503L, which is perfect for the home office. Also came revised, though I did need to clean the controls again. Also wrapped it...but again...I typically do this for both customized looks and to protect its pristine veneer. Using that one daily. Best part...it had been professionally revised and I was the only local bidder ($140).

The one thing we always used was making comparison readings between the good channel and the bad one. Especially helpful if you lack a schematic or service manual.

Nice fix Joe👍 Finding the transistor on the left channel was a surprise eh... Chain reaction with the diodes on the right channel it seems..and no bad caps...wow. That mess on the right side driver bracket would have had me wondering.. Thanks for the video and work.
