  "Dying doesn't automatically make you a good person. Hitler died, but we don't send him birthday cards." 😂😂😂 That was excellent! OP's right. Dad's on his deathbed, and he's not trying to atone or apologize for what he did. He just wants money. Really shows you what kind of person he was when he spent his final days attempting to exploit the child he threw away instead of trying to make an effort to sincerely make up for his bad choices.

  I will never understand how a terminal diagnosis suddenly makes people desperate for forgiveness? Are you afraid of going to hell? Or afraid of being judged in the next life? Whatever. A terminal diagnosis should never give someone a free pass to reconciliation or forgiveness. It just means they wasted their time on NOT trying to obtain forgiveness while they could still do so. <br><br>I&apos;m not one to kick someone while they&apos;re down, but I didn&apos;t even visit certain people on their death beds when they asked. I told them simply that the bridge was burned and obviously there&apos;s no time left to rectify the situation. One in particular was so persistent I had to tell them to just move on to the next life gracefully so I don&apos;t have to destroy you while you&apos;re still alive.

  Should&apos;ve stayed zero contact with all of them. They didnt care about the OP at all.... only their own reputation. Glad the OP didn&apos;t go to visit the dad... he didn&apos;t deserve it.

  On that very first night she should have called the police since she was thrown out as a minor. She could have even gotten a drug test to prove she was innocent, and that the drugs weren&apos;t hers. Then she could sue the family for damages.<br><br>The family would be fighting criminal charges, getting sued, and getting their name dragged through the mud, instead of her remaining homeless and struggling.
