  I know exactly how blessed op is to have that grandpa cause i had the same one. My granddad was a mechanic all his life and my fondest memories growing up are of spending summers between school years at his shop. When i started driving and hanging out with with friends that had car guy dads all us kids were always working on something. I didn&apos;t realize how much i learned from my granddad until i started working on friends cars to me all that time with granddad was just that....spending time with granddad. When granddad retired we bring him stuff to tinker on or we&apos;d just hangout at his house do his yard work maybe watch a baseball game and listen to his endless stories. The day i realized granddad had a whole bunch of grandkids was the day i stopped by his house after work to catch up i found 3 of my friends sitting on the front porch having a couple beers with granddad. Wed get him outta house like every other weekend to go fishing, help with a project car, go to lunch or see a movie. His funeral was an experience all my friends showed up with spouses it was a funeral and reunion all in one. We laughed, &nbsp;we cried but most of all we remembered.

  Wait, what? &nbsp;Bro steels a $100k + car, drunk, drives it drunk towards a population center, wrecks it (still drunk)… and gets a DUI and property damage. &nbsp;And somehow avoids the Grand Theft Auto charge? &nbsp;I feel like being intoxicated might step UP the sentence of the theft. &nbsp;At over $100k, (according to Texas law) that crime alone could get you 10yrs. &nbsp;But he stole it from a place of business, while a worker at that place was working on the car. &nbsp;There could be insurance involvement. &nbsp;Grandpa might make a claim against company’s insurance, get paid quickly (-ish) to start the repairs sooner, but now the insurance had a dog in the fight.<br><br>On the other hand, causing thousands of dollars of damage will certainly get the DUI sentenced more harshly.<br><br>Bro should be looking at hard time, not just probation.
