  I went to see Alice present her new book Domination, she has great stage presence, the topic is fascinating but came away bursting with questions, so great to see Dan in conversation with Alice and asking questions and having that two way conversation. I would love to get Alice’s take on the early Monastery set up in Britain and Ireland which is quite different to the later medieval large agricultural model she describes as a build on Roman period  villa estates. These early Monasteries in Britain and Ireland working back through Illtud, Martin of Tours and the Desert Fathers were much more spiritual than what we see later, so they don’t quite fit the model proposed by Alice. They did still attract people from the “elite” class of their societies and clearly influenced the local politic. Just a fascinating period and a really useful perspective to have.

  It’s nice to hear an archeologists perspective regarding this topic. Prof Robert’s is a great science communicator. I had many professors like her. They exude fascination and excitement in the subject they profess.

  This is a great example of why it can be so refreshing for an expert in a field like biology to explore a topic from a very different field such as in this case: cultural anthropology. Very interesting discussion!

  Still need to answer why did Christianity take off and beat out all the other competing religions. Dan asked a good question. What separated this movement from the others?

  I would love for the two of you to have this same conversation  but with the addition of Dr. Amy Jill Levine and Mary Beard. Dr. Levine could provide some interesting context on Judaism that might help clear up some things here that aren't as well explained. And of course Mary Beard or some similar Roman historian would be an excellent addition to the conversation.
