  I lived right next to the Falls on Minnehaha Ave. for three years as a child. I explored every nook and cranny of the park. I would go behind the falls in summer and winter, the winter was cool as the falls became an ice tunnel. Later in my teens we would have keg parties down on 54th and the river, so you could say we were keeping with tradition. Absolutely the best city park anywhere in the USA.

  This is my playground in the 60's so many memories we would inner tube down to the falls and actually walk almost to the edge and sometimes sit behind the falls we thought we were invincible as kids😂

  Minnehaha Falls and the park have been one of my favorite spots since childhood. Was just over there the other day. I miss living a couple blocks away, when I would walk my dog past the falls nearly every day. Amazing to watch how the falls change with the seasons and rainfall

  The poem wasn’t only known to English speakers around the world. When I was a kid, I studied it in literature class back in Ukraine. The first time I walked by Minnehaha Falls and realized where I was, it felt incredible - I could still recite it in Ukrainian from memory:<br><br>Як спитаєте мене ви <br>Звідки сі казки й легенди,<br>Повні пахощів весняних,<br>Холодку долин зелених,<br>Диму легкого вігвамів,<br>Шуму-реву водоспадів,<br>Реву дикого, страшного,<br>Як громи, що в горах трублять,<br>Я скажу вам, відповім вам:<br><br>Із лісів, степів пустельних,<br>Із озер Країни Снігу,<br>З сторони Оджибуеїв,<br>З сторони Дакотів диких <br><br>Thanks for the video ❤

  I&apos;d like to learn more about the infrastructure around the falls, and other places along the river. The stairs and ramps and railings leading down the bluffs, some abandon and some still in use, I&apos;ve explored that river my whole life 😂

  I love the accuracy and unvarnished truth in this video. Sometimes people think because we had stops on the underground railroad here or because we fought for the union that there is no history of racism. I&apos;m glad we can learn from our past instead of hide from it.
