  When they say Coriander in the recipes, it is roasted/dried cilantro seeds. Tastes totally different than the leaves. The roasted seeds are what gives BILTONG it's iconic smell...

  Cilantro seeds are used as a spice, and doesn't taste like the leaves. You'd like the spice's taste. It's a MUST when making biltong.

  Your take on how we&apos;re all &quot;connected&quot; in the same ways of just trying to keep alive, is perfectly correct.<br>As an anecdote, I&apos;ve seen this description as well: Every society throughout the world, has some form of &quot;meatball&quot; and some form of &quot;flatbread&quot;. They may call it different things, and some details on how they make it can differ. But, essentially they&apos;re the same sorts of foods.

  Klipdrift is a brandy here in South Africa (S.A.). We mix it with coca cola and ice cubes,but in Belgium they drink it in a small liqueur glass as an aperitif.

  I had a client who for over 50 years was a wildlife photographer and been to every country in Africa. About 10 years ago he was photographing Rhino in a park in SA, even with his experience doing it hundreds of times he managed to get close to a rhino and when his camera made a click the rhino turned and charged him , he was flipped into the air and was nearly killed, landed in hospital for months and walked poorly after that. Never underestimate wildlife.

  My friend, this is an area where people from &quot;developed&quot; countries suffer when they come here. The people that come from the US or from Western Europe measure our food against food that they are use to. In Africa we live differently we are people from the earth. Even people here who live in the towns and cities we eat from the earth. The people in the US closest to &nbsp;South Africans are people from the South. We don&apos;t waist any part of the animal. When you go to a new country one should go open minded. You should come to South Africa. Go to a rugby match, and go to a braai in the suburbs and then go to a soccer match in the townships and then go to a braai there. Meat will differ the color of the people might differ BUT the common denominator will be how friendly and sharing South Africans are.

  Yes, you can legally hunt the South African Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino), though it is highly regulated, expensive, and requires specialized professional guides. While 4 of the 5 are commonly hunted, leopard hunting was restricted in 2016, and rhino hunting is limited, often limited to specific, strictly controlled, ethical, or conservation-driven hunts.

  We use drones now to do the headcounts. Also to monitor for poachers, a big problem in South Africa.<br>Zebra is surprisingly delicious. A Spur (family restaurant chain, like TGI Fridays) once won a prize for it&apos;s Sirloin steak. Turned out to be zebra ...
