  I think think it is important to realize how far from reality many of these tanks are. Not that fluorescence is wrong, but it's no exactly natural or a biotope

  Great video BA , personally I love all corals and all marine life. Unfortunately I can only fit so much into a tank. All corals are great dull or bright, for me it’s the thrill of keeping them alive and watching them grow in our artificial boxes

  I have a mixed reef (SPS,LPS and softies) and do run the ‘blues’ at the start of day and end of evening and enjoy the florescence. But have to say I love the more natural full spectrum daylight look which I run majority of the day, the subtle colours have their own beauty, soft corals in particular are incredible in natural sunlight, the beiges, pinks, browns and tans are mesmerising. I find the Acropora in my tank grow a lot faster under broad spectrum lighting as well.

  This has been one of my biggest issues with how reefing has changed in the past 20 years. When I started +25 years ago, it was about replicating the natural reef. Now, it&apos;s a bit more showy, as well as a greater focus on fragging at a smaller size to create space in the aquarium and increase species count. <br><br>I suppose the hobby has always pushed boundaries though. As an active diver, I often think about if I took my same 8 foot aquarium footprint in a certain section of reef, what the fish density would be like. And more often than not, the fish density in that footprint is lower than what I currently keep- and mine is lightly stocked. But this is nothing new. <br><br>Add to that extremely blue lighting, and these reef tanks are distinctly different than anything occurring in the wild. <br><br>I&apos;m not trying to pass judgment. People can do what they want, and if the animals are thriving, then who&apos;s to say it&apos;s wrong? But I appreciate the video, as I think this will be educational for many hobbyists who haven&apos;t been fortunate enough to see a living reef in person. <br><br>Let me know if you&apos;re ever up on the Sunshine Coast! Maybe we can go for a snorkel! :)

  Would love to see massive colonies in tanks but i&apos;ve listened to podcasts on the matter - people get issues with huuuge pieces eventually - the flow doesn&apos;t get into them and they start to have issues with die back. Not really an issue with a giant wave getting crashed into a giant colony.<br><br>Great to see hideaway island Vanuatu! Scuba dived there 15 years ago.

  As a hobbyist who has kept Sun corals ie Tubastrea both orange and black......you place them where you can feed them. Its a myth they need shade. They grow in the wild where there is a food source irrespective of light. Most are upside down or on the edge of a rock as the plankton rises to the surface at night but like your video some are in full sunlight but their foodsource is obviously getting to them. Place them in an aquarium where you can feed them !!
