  Just his season at Wolfsburg alone trumps many of your favourite midfielders. Toppled Pep&apos;s Bayern by himself with Bas Dost as his supporting cast (with all due respect). Brought home 2 of their 3 trophies in the modern era. 16 goals and TWENTY SEVEN assists. Came to City, won 6 premier leagues, 4 in a row, 100 points, broke the assist record (he has 21 as one assist was wrongfully taken away from him, to Sterling vs Arsenal away) holds 4 seasons in the top 10 for most assists (16/17, 17/18, 19/20, 22/23). He was the main reason, alongside Dias that City stopped being an utter embarrassment in Europe. 34 games in Europe, 13 goals 11 assists. 21/24 of his goal contributions in Europe were to either go ahead or equalise. He has the most goal contributions in the champions league knockout stages for a premier league side, more than Ronaldo, Rooney, Drogba etc etc. in terms of midfielders, he is only second to Muller yet casual fans will say &quot;but but he ghosted in the finals&quot; as if its his fault Rudiger committed GBH on him and his hamstring blew up. Most goal contributions of any player against Real Madrid in the champions league with 4 goals and 4 assists. As for Belgium, while he didn&apos;t reach the lofty heights he did for city let&apos;s not pretend he was a failure. 86 goal contributions in 100 90s. Belgium&apos;s second all time goal scorer. Scorer of Belgium&apos;s most important goal with his winner against Brazil (while Hazard was great in that game his fans would have you believe that KDB sat twiddling his thumbs on the grass).<br><br>Unfortunately city bias doesn&apos;t help his cause in terms of realising the greatness we witnessed. Believe me, if he played for Real Madrid, United he would be rightfully spoken about as the top 5 greatest midfielders of all time. He is up there with your Xavi&apos;s, Iniesta&apos;s, Zidane&apos;s, etc etc. Just a few years ago he was in the same debates as Mesut Ozil (with all due respect to him). Casual fans will tell you &quot;but but he&apos;s not a midfielder all he did was spam crosses&quot; because they only watched him post 2023 when his hamstrings exploded. Before 2017 he could be a lethal 10 and also an incredibly dynamic right winger. 17/18 he was an all action midfielder. Defensively and offensively. Then post 2020 is when he reached arguably his final form in terms of efficiency. He made that right half space his own. At his physical peak he was a nightmare. People think because he&apos;s ginger he was slow when it&apos;s quite the opposite. There isn&apos;t many more scarier players than KDB in transition. Over long distances he was like a gazelle, and then at the end of it he could pick out a killer pass whilst running at full speed. Lets not even talk about his ball striking, what a joke. King Kev. Hopefully this incoming scudetto with Napoli certifies him as one of the greatest to ever do it.

  I don’t think KDB is underrated by professionals and pundits but maybe by fans who don’t support City. He’s probably the best passer of this generation and was such a talent at keeping the ball moving quickly to create space for himself to receive the ball back and either play the killer pass or get a shot off

  I know this has just been posted, but someone who rarely receives any love but is arguably one of the best midfielders the league has seen is Yaya Toure. I think he could work in any midfield (bar a Pep midfield).This is coming from a Liverpool fan, I just think he doesn&apos;t get the same respect as others.

  As a Belgian: you forgot Fellaini. When you kicked De Bruyne, a large shadow would suddenly engulf you. Underestimated nowadays.
