  Lake Como is particularly popular among Americans, Brits and Swiss, whereas Lake Garda is mainly frequented by Germans, Dutch and Eastern Europeans. Lake Garda is on average 20-30% cheaper, but if you are interested in water sports, Lake Garda is the best. The water is also much cleaner and clearer for swimming. Lake Como is the lake frequented by the rich and aristocratic. Lake Como has countless luxurious villas, almost every billionaire or sheikh has a villa there but i strongly prefer Lake Garda is more familiar and offers more outdoor activities. The northern Italians usually go hiking in the Dolomites, they are not lake-lovers like the germans, they prefer to go swimming at sea with a sandy beach in southern Italy or abroad, many also go to Croatia (Istria, Dalmatia). Southern Italians mainly go to the sea on their own shores, a few of them go hiking or abroad, but close to Greece or Egypt. But Italy as a whole has a lot of lakes, in the north anyway, but also in the center and in the south or around Rome.

  We have not visited Lake Como but Lake Garda was breathtaking. &nbsp;Lake Maggiore in Stresa was one of our favorite spots as well. &nbsp;There are so many beautiful places in Italy.

  I am a little biased as I live by Lago di Garda but I am not a native Italian so I can be somewhat objective. Having said that &nbsp;I think Garda has more dramatic mountains and the towns on the lake are beautiful but accesible to folks on a variety of budgets. Having said that they are both stunning!

  Great video. First you actually pointed out information that is absolutely necessary. And you showed much of the beauty of both places. But…I’m no closer to deciding which I want to see on our trip to Italy in April 😂😂<br><br>Great job. You have a new subscriber

  We Italians generally prefer the sea for our summer holidays, some prefer the mountains and others the lake. My wife and I prefer the sea but we also like the lake. We prefer Lake Garda to Lake Como. The reason is that Garda is cheaper and has many more nice towns. On Lake Garda I prefer Riva and my wife Desenzano and Sirmione. I prefer Riva for the cycle paths, the mountains (Dolomites) and the spaces while my wife prefers Desenzano and Sirmione for the shopping and culture. Sirmione has a villa of a nobleman from the Roman Empire which is beautiful on the peninsula. When we were in Siena we met some American tourists who would later go to Lake Como, we suggested Lake Garda and from their expressions it seemed that they didn&apos;t know it.
