Okay but "I think i found them" at the intro just so you watch to the end even tho there aint anything is pretty savage.

As a Chinese living in the west, I sincerely appreciate the respect you had for the missing Chinese miners, and the efforts you put in for locating them from the accidents happened over 150 years ago :D It’s sad that a lot of them died in accidents like this are still missing to this day around the states.

A couple of years ago the body of my great uncle, who was a pilot in WW2 and was shot down and MIA, was identified using DNA. His body, what was left of it, was brought home from Romania to New York State. This was so meaningful for our family and the town he came from. There was a full turn out as his body was moved from the airport to the graveyard. I never met him but I always knew about how his loss was deeply devastating for our family and my grandmother. Finding him and bringing him home even after all these years brought so much healing to our family. As family we had no idea anyone was even looking or trying to identify those old bones found in a mass grave we knew nothing about. Trying to find the miners might feel like just a fun adventure but it has the potential to heal families. Just the attempt alone to find them even if they aren’t found is very meaningful as well.

Brent, you are not just an owner, but an amazingly talented custodian of history. Your documentation skills are perfect for CG. I tried (but failed) to get some friends to partner with me to buy CG, but I watch you and am truly amazed and know YOU were the right guy to take this on. I have not been there in over a decade, but it is in good hands.

$80 in 1897 was equivalent to almost $3,000. I think I would be a little bit upset if I risked my life for $3,000 to recover bodies and then after bringing up one of them, the payer said oh never mind I don't have $3,000

We had two miners killed in an explosion in the mine up the road from us last week. Thank you for being so respectful as this still goes on.

You could see if Caitlin Dougherty from ask a mortician wants to have a discussion about what is the most respectful way to go about memorializing the miners or removing them. She covered similar historic accidents

I think you should try to get a Plaque Made. One that Honors Not only the Chinese Miners that Died at Cerro Gordo But perhaps just Honors All the Chinese Miners that have Died as well.

I'm only 11 minutes in, but I need to say how much I admire how tactfully and respectfully you are reporting on this situation.

I grew up in Boise Idaho. Just about an hour out of town, up in the mountains is an old mining cemetery in Idaho City. There was a huge, overgrown section of the cemetery with a mass grave for all the chinese miners. I always thought it was so sad that all these men died and were just put in unmarked graves. Thanks for shedding light on this history and how sad it is that so many Chinese miners never made it back to their homes.

I'm glad I found your videos. I am a heavy duty technician and have spent the last 18 years working in a nickel mine in Northern Ontario Canada. Our cage goes down 3370 feet then ramps down to approx 7300 feet and still going deeper. I've worked all over it from the large ore bodies that are like massive caves to narrow veins. Our narrow veins are still quite large as a Toyota Landcruiser just fits into them. I must say you are incredibly brave going in on ropes and squeezing through the tightest of spaces. Everything you are doing is incredibly interesting, so much so that I listen to you on my 1 hour drive to and from work. We all spend 10.5 hours a shift, 5 shifts a week days and nights. Modern mines are a lot bigger but the risks go up because of it. Some areas have ore on the face that looks like stars twinkling as it is less concentrated. Other areas it looks like solid ribbons of copper/gold color up to many feet thick. Occasionally we hit a vein of bornite. Ours is also known as peacock ore it is one of the prettiest ores I have seen. Bornite is a copper iron sulfide mineral (\(Cu_{5}FeS_{4}\)), famous for its iridescent, peacock-like tarnish of blues, purples. One amazing feature of the bornite we have is that silver does not mix with it. Instead the silver remains in veins and can easily be peeled off the ore by hand. it is like a layer of crinkled tin foil. The miners have told me that our bornite contains not only a lot of copper but 26 precious metals. Basically all of the ores we mine are very brittle and will crumble in your hand just by tapping it with a wrench. Keep up the good work restoring your property, the history is very interesting. I do recommend you bring down a mining scba. "Mine SCBA" refers to Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus specifically designed for the hazardous, oxygen-deficient, or contaminated air environments found in mines, providing miners with a portable air supply for escape and rescue, featuring rugged designs, long duration, and integrated communication for safety during emergencies. These devices let miners breathe safely as they move through dangerous areas, often using strategically placed stations to switch to fresh, charged units, allowing for escape until they reach fresh air. The ones we use are a rebreather that cleans the air you exhale, they are quite small, weigh about 5 lbs. The ones we use have pouches that can fasten to your safety belt, slung over your shoulder or worn like a small backpack. These are vital when you do not have forced air ventilation. They can save your life.
If you have not done it yet. Bring down a few cases of drinking water to the various levels you explore. Emergency water.

The company work for has many mines in the area with one of them being one of the world's deepest mines, with active mining levels extending to over 2.4 kilometers (8,000 feet) and exploring deeper, intersecting geological features like the Cliff Lake Fault around 3.1 kilometers deep, hosting nickel, copper, and PGEs, and famously housing SNOLAB (the world's deepest underground physics lab).

From one fellow miner to another:
Enjoy your life experiences exploring the underground world, it really is a fascinating place, and stay safe.
