You could also say that the Russian / British (Western) Rivalry informs todays geopolitics.<br>Unfortunately, nobody today recalls all the old conflicts going back decades/centuries.

Iran remembers the 1941 invasion of its neutral country by a joint soviet and british invasion, occupying the country for 5 years against the wishes of the iranains
