  The length and pitch are not the issue. The problem is that the elbow arcs too high, then comes back down into the horizontal vent connector. That&apos;s why the rust is only there. The heat is trapped there, and condensing on the inside of the pipe. <br>The rest isn&apos;t rusted because the length and pitch are good. Otherwise, there would be rust all along the length.

  I was told by some old school plumbers and HVAC technicians! When you’re in the Customer’s basement always be aware of all of the equipment! There is always $100 bill in the Customer’s basement!

  I have always been using an impact wrench on the anode rod. They all take a 1/16 impact socket. However you only use the impact to break it lose just enough but not spin it off, and then use the ratchet to remove. Supper easy.

  Did you notice that over sized bottom door seal he installed on the utility room door? Is there a possibility that could affect draft and combustion on both the furnace and water heater?

  Lowe’s installers just wanted to get it done and move to the next one they don’t care if it’s right or wrong they only install not repair. Very apparent they did not get a permit to install the water heater.

  Milwaukee 1/2” M-18 impact gun is your friend for that 1 1/16” anode rod nut

  A lot of those vent dampers were optional equipment to improve efficiency by maybe 1.5 % and have a short life expectancy due to the heat )take that saving and then cost of the vent dampers installed &nbsp;you’ll find it’s not worth it just leave it open manually open. In our area they would cost around $1200 to $1500 with labor
