5 % growth is commendable despite the challenging global situation. This government wants to achieve more than that, with real reforms and changes as much as possible. It will take some to do this. The important thing is they are on the right path. Off course, continuous improvements have to be embraced along this transformation journey. You can’t transform a bankrupted country due to 76 years of curse overnight. People have to realize this fact. While I have a high respect for him, I don’t agree with his some critics. He could have done these while in CBSL then.

As a 76 year old [Geriatic], genuine Income Tax Payer since 1974 & retired from Private Sector Senio Management, without pension benefits, presently struggling to exist - forget living - unable to enjoy a reasonable Health Insurance scheme; Thanks for not paying House Rent owing inherited shelter. Cannot afford a personal vehicle and cannot afford Taxi services; cannot walk long distances and cannot use public transport owing to old age fragile body. WHAT IS THE SOLUTION for the lower middle class families?

Fantastic interview , I learnt a lot from this how the central bank works in srilanka and related to other major policy frames. The interviewer too though a young chap had good sense in asking very correct questionnaires. Interesting 😊

Currency depreciation is the biggest headache. Hedge with Gold. Don't use real estate. Liquidity is value in this game. Gold can be liquidated in minutes whereas Real estate can take years.

He is somewhat deceptive or unintentionally vague in the way this is being articulated.
Central bank can use the monetary policy policy to control money(Rupee) supply by changing the interest rate, which in turn controls the inflation (stabilise price). When interest rate is changed the demand for Rupee changes and that automatically is supposed to control the exchange rate.

Minister/Govt can take fiscal measures ( tax system) to make a impact to the economy by using higher tax to boost investments and economic growth, driving and stabilising the economy , but it cannot directly interfere with the exchange rate ...
