  The problem with wolf dogs is, that they are a roulette in genetics. People want an animal that looks like a wolf and behaves like a dog. But they can also get an animal that looks like a dog and behaves like a wolf. When some wolf traits are strong, you get an anxious, shy animal, that is terrified of humans. Add some dog traits or unqualified owners and you can get an aggressive animal, that is capable of jumping huge fences, has a strong hunting drive and becomes a liability. It is not only socialisation and training, but also the animals personality and the mix of traits, you can get. You can have two pups from a litter, one who is calm and get's along with humans and other animals and one, who is anxious, aggressive, ressource guarding and suffers greatly.

  Plus, there&apos;s real dog breeds that <b>look</b> like wolves but haven&apos;t had a real wolf in their lineage for generations.

  Man I love that sanctuaries were mentioned. They seem like the perfect chance at as close to a &quot;normal&quot; life for these poor misunderstood hybrids.

  Fun fact: California, notably near Hollywood, has the highest number of registered &quot;pet&quot; wolf dogs in the world. The state also has the highest number of rescues for these exotic animals. <br>I am glad you brought up that they are bred to be content and often end up at a rescue

  I have a friend who was homeless and found an abandoned pup. That pup gave him security so he could sleep at night and a drive to not give up. The man got into housing just as his pup really started to look like a wolf. A vet confirmed, he had a female wolfdog pup. He got her fixed and educated himself. We can legally own wolf hybrids here. He got training and worked with a trainer to train her and himself. He is now one of the best dog trainers around. He also bought himself a house with acreage so his girl can run. She&apos;s amazing with children. If you&apos;re an adult? You have to earn her trust. She has a Great Pyranese as a best friend. She picked him out herself at a rescue. Too many people breed animals without understanding their nature, temperament and job. All dogs are bred for a job. Know it.

  My 1/4 wolf hybrid looked like a thick Australian shepherd and behaved all wolf. &nbsp;She was, to say the least, NOT an easy dog, but I was committed, and while I didn’t always like her, I loved her until her old-age end. &nbsp;I miss that awful, carnivorous rhinoceros. &nbsp;Never get one for cool points..I wanted an Aussie and she was a free puppy.

  I had a wolfdog, mom was an artic wolf ,dad was husky. He was the best, most gentle farm dog, protective of my children. He lived for 15 years. Love you forever Tex!❤

  Growing up in my Hometown, we had a neighborhood woofdog. His name was Seven and he was the best, super sweet and loving never chased a cat or anything but kept the coyotes at bay and the Bobcat in check. The people who technically owned him got to old to care for him properly and was forced to find him a new home (i think he ended up at one of the farms just out of town bc he was so good with domestic animals) but as soon as he wasnt part of our community anymore peoples small pets started to go missing. We all missed Seven.<br>Growing up as a kid, I just thought that&apos;s how old Wolf dogs were, But now, as an adult, I realized that he was only the way that he was because he had humans in his life that were capable of meeting all of his needs and a community that let him be wild when he needed it.

  A bond with a wolfdog is based on trust, you can&apos;t keep them like a regular dog<br>They made the mistake by not socializing the wolfdog and how we all can see in the video was a big mistake<br>They are part wolf and wolves are pack animals

  Wolves and dogs &nbsp;have completely different instincts. Cross-breeding the two is unethical because the end result is an animal with contradictory instincts that will not get along with other dogs, wolves or humans. A wolf forms complex pack structures, a dog does not. A wolf is monogamous, a dog is not. A dog can regard a human as a pack member, a wolf cannot. A pair of wolves looks after their offspring for two years, dogs do not.
