  I’ve got two pomeranians and I have to say they are amazing with training…….my husband and I are extremely obedient and do exactly what they tell us at all times.

  I got myself a belgian malinois as my first dog specifically because I wanted a smart, high energy breed to keep up with me. I didn&apos;t go into it blind though and I basically got training for a year before I got her. We&apos;re coming up on the year mark now. She&apos;s been off leash reliably for months, has a pretty solid heel (still working on the creeping though!), I engage with her enough that she &nbsp;can settle all day while I work and can chill out at home in general. She hasn&apos;t chewed up anything she wasn&apos;t supposed to (even when left unattended). She&apos;s calm when out in public and I can take her anywhere. <br><br>But whenever someone starts talking to me about her, and about wanting a Malinois, I make sure to tell them that what they&apos;re seeing in my dog is the result of multiple hours every day of active engagement (combined with some passive engagement like just kicking the ball she brings to me while I&apos;m doing the dishes). She&apos;s a fantastic dog, but my life 100% revolves around her, and that&apos;s what people really need to understand.

  At one point in my almost 70 years, I had a rescued doberman - calm, lovely dog and a mini-dachshund who was the runt of the litter. People asked &apos;aren&apos;t you afraid of your doberman?&apos; Nope, I would be more afraid of the dachshund.

  I had to watch a relatives Jack Russell for six months while they were away…8 hours a day of ball throw and retrieve! And she was 16 years old! She was a sweetheart but exhausting!

  I adopted 2 Akitas, best dogs ever for loyalty but you are 100% right about their power and aggression. &nbsp;My first girl was a total mush, sweetheart, I fell in love with the breed. &nbsp; Decades later I rescued a year old female, they held her in a cage the whole time, it was super sad. &nbsp;I tried so hard to train her, give her tons of love. but she was a constant liability, hating everyone equally, animals and humans. &nbsp;Luckily I found her a great home with acres of land to run on, she thrived!

  We got a Border Collie when I was 4. Joey was a wonderful dog until he crossed the Rainbow Bridge at age 17. He was trained,loyal and the sweetest boy ever. ❤️

  Had an Akita. Other owners I ran into were always surprised mine could go off leash, especially around strange dogs.<br>And when it was a pup I regularly was told &quot;dude, why so strict, its just a puppy&quot;<br>These things are related :D

  I had an amazing border collie mix (we think mix but several people insisted she was a pure bred). She walked over 4 miles a day until she was 12 years old. She also broke her leash, jumped into a pen and herded sheep at a historic site, and when I brought kittens home, she spent hours heading them into her dog bed. She also did anything I asked and was so good.
