  Another beautiful thing about the Appendices ~ is that they REMAIN. &nbsp;They are intact...and untouched by film makers. &nbsp;Death is but a door for us, we&apos;ll all arrive there one day. &nbsp;Marriages are beginnings----all marriages----and their endings are part and parcel with them. &nbsp;Aragorn and Arwen were Blessed to have remained in love that long. &nbsp;Just saying, from a very human point of view. On Monday my husband and I will have been married for 45 years----and we knew one another for 5 years prior to our wedding day on the 17th of August. &nbsp;As we each approach our 7th decade of life, we know we&apos;re in the last chapter of our story. &nbsp;Thank God for sons and daughters and grandchildren ~ that&apos;s the part of Arwen&apos;s choice that doesn&apos;t quite jive with me....an aspect that Tolkein was writing from a romantic male author&apos;s point of view. &nbsp;People who never have children will never understand that your child becomes the greatest love/s of your life. &nbsp;(Unless you&apos;re some kind of nasty narcissist) &nbsp;Especially for Mothers, although a Father&apos;s Love is just as vital and important. &nbsp;You go on living, at least for a time, for your children&apos;s sake. &nbsp;To help them with THEIR grief, at loss of a parent. &nbsp;To provide a sphere of safety and stability to carry on----to see it through. &nbsp;So, while Arwen&apos;s loss is devastating to her and her father&apos;s words must have all come back to roost...sacrificing one&apos;s light to sorrow ~ well ~ that is the choice of a young woman, not a mature one. &nbsp;But, then----she is a forever young ELF! &nbsp;As for me and my mortality----I agree with Tolkein, letting go in due course will come as a relief. &nbsp;Amen! &nbsp; 😉

  So, did Eldarian have the choice to be either Elven or human, as did Elrond?

  The issue with video is the title. &nbsp;Arwen was not the King, but Aragorn was the King and part of the deal that restored the Kingship was that he give back the gift of life. &nbsp;Arwen was not under such a rule. But they would meet again after passing out of Arda.

  Shouldn’t Arven and Aragorn’s child at least have some Elvish traits: perhaps not quite ‘immortal’, but still quite long-lived?

  Sometimes Love have his price. Death wins always! Lotr is a Fantasy Story. But true life is more dramatic. Sometimes it doesnt make any sence.

  I am enjoying your videos, however, in this video I disagree with the concept that he hid the traumatic experience of eowyns choice in the appendices, because practically speaking, a good number of Tolkiens choices for each novel was based on discussion with editors and publishers 🤷‍♂️ and, as many fans and professors have found, he changed his mind over details and outcomes on many occasions 😂 his fantasy world was a work in process until the day he died 🤷‍♂️ pretty much 😮‍💨 so editors/publishers added some pressure to the process and the reason he had so many appendices, as after the edition was produced, he would make some adjustments 😅 his son had plenty of trouble putting together any of the unfinished tales, leaving some in an unfinished form because he felt it could ruin Tolkiens legacy 🤕 I’m sure he had many headaches lol
