  this is like an episode of Atlanta. Except there I suppose Earn/Ovrkast would get invited to Big Boi's house to negotiate a settlement, where it would be revealed that High Schoolers LLC is run by the evil magic owl from Rock-A-Doodle, who controls everything. And then the owl tries to eat them (duh) and they narrowly escape, I guess.

  Their deal is super weird. There was supposed to be three Andre 3000 features on Big Boi’s debut album but the label said yall can’t work together unless it’s under the OutKast name.

  private equity got its shit together in the music biz, decades ago. the rest of the world is feeling it now, but this sort of reminds me of the Rolling Stones destroying the Verve over a sample of a cover of a Rolling Stones song. nobody needed that money; private equity is just a trap like that. people acting like machines.

  i want to add that i heard the LLC &nbsp;arent just asking OvrKast to change his name. they want him to destroy all his merch with ovrkast and to give them ALL the money he made under the OvrKast name. For a smaller artist that can basically kill their career. People are being disingenuous if they think this is just a simple name change.

  This reminds me of when the J-pop group PUFFY wanted to tour the US and Diddy (then called Puff Daddy) told them they couldn&apos;t use their name. They changed it to Puffy AmiYumi...then he changed his name to P Diddy a year later. Not the worst thing he&apos;s done. But still a dick move.

  it’s so weird that in an art form built on expressing the uniqueness and diversity and beauty of black language, that the terms shared between our people and inspiration from such can be trademarked and used against us when they create capital from it
