I never heard of the AMX/3, and then when I saw it on display at the Pebble Beach Concours, my jaw dropped to the floor. What a gorgeous, amazing machine.

The AMX/3 would've been a fabulous car. Unfortunately, it probably would've suffered the fate of many other impressive cars from unknown marquees: the kind of people who'd want to buy one couldn't afford it, and the people who could afford it wouldn't want to buy it (why buy from a mediocre American brand when you can get a Porsche/BMW/Maserati for the same price?), so it'd ultimately be discontinued due to lack of sales and likely would have killed AMC way before the mid-'80s. Also, obligatory shout-out to Richard Teague. The man was an absolute legend of automotive design, responsible for this curvaceous beauty, the boxy Jeep Cherokee, and nearly every AMC product in-between.
