1. Organizing before deciding what to keep.
2. Spending hours trying to figure out the perfect donation places for various items. (“donation perfection paralysis “)
3. Keeping things you don’t use “just in case“.
4. Indecision while decluttering, therefore hanging onto things that you chose not to decide.
5. Holding on to things just because they were expensive. “Sunk cost clutter”.
6. Overly complicated or organizing or decluttering systems.
7. Guilt over past purchases, instead of releasing the mistakes.
* stop being a clutter manager and start being a decision-maker* ❤

The length of this video when it only needs to be eight minutes long is clutter in itself

I recently got rid of 75 to 80% of everything I owned. I was moving from a 2 BR 2 ba apt to a one BR apt. My husband of 40 years, who I adored and who adored me, died 4 years ago. One charity picked up furniture and one charity picked up clothing and smaller items. I sold what I could on Facebook Marketplace and gave the rest away. Although it was heartbreaking at first, after 2 months of sorting through everything I owned, I am now free and comfortable in my new one BR apt. I let go of books, china, clothing, jewelry (sold to PMR), you name it - I let it go! Do it! I hold my love and memories in my heart, and I now have enough room to dance and exercise in my living space!

OMG! I needed this video a long time ago. Clothes in my closet I used to wear when I was working full time and dressed up. China and glassware that I used to decorate for dinner parties and holidays that I no longer host. Extra lamps and antique furniture that used to cost hundreds and thousands more and now can't be given away; you can find such items in thrift shops. Jewelry that I honestly wore once or never, because I've never been a jewelry person. Appliances that were used in the past when I was married to a "gourmet chef" while I was the bread winner, but the "kids" are now adults in their 30's and have their own stuff. My idea of entertaining is inviting them to a restaurant once a month.

The ONLY thing I was disappointed with, was your mentioning Good Will. That's an organization whose money goes to $Million incomes for the founders and people at the top with stuff they get for free and are tax exempt. Good Will pays their employees minimum wage or lower. Organizations such as the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the Salvation Army, United Way, for example use their money to feed and house the poor. I will NEVER donate to Good Will!

My problem is sentimental items and old paper files. The latter is so time consuming to go through

My biggest problems in decluttering are things I have acquired from people I love who have passed away . And photos. I have a bin full of pictures all neatly organized in relevant groups. Only problem.
.. I can't look at them without tears, so I never look at them. So there they sit.
