  As a man, checking other men is a lot more effective than you might think. A lot of men who engage in this behavior don’t care what women think, they care what their fellow men think. Women are a status symbol used to impress their peers and social hierarchy. A simple, “Let it go” or “Don’t embarrass yourself” can go a long way. Never forget: NO MEANS NO.

  Gents, here's a tip: If a guy insults you as a "simp" or "hero" for simply defending a woman, that's a dude you should never be around. He takes your chivalry and twists it as something evil or two-faced.
