  My Mum has a labubu keychain...she found it on the ground while going to the shops, and now it hangs from the rearview mirror in her car. She has no idea what it's called, simply calls it her "cute little monster thing". Every time I'm in her car I smile at it and am reminded how fleeting trends are, and how little I care for them because I'm so set in my ways.

  I’d say the biggest difference with overconsumption versus collecting is that collectors are planning on maintaining their collection for the long term, regardless of whether or not their hobby is trending or popular. There are probably people who are still collecting labubus, genuinely love them, and will continue to collect them long term. But that’s not what the majority of people have been doing with them for the last couple of years.

  When objects become a replacement for an identity. Any sort of criticism will feel personal. <br>It&apos;s really a big insecurity, that needs to be looked at. As no amount of objects can fill it.

  I recently saw someone displaying a Labubu on the review mirror of their car and remembered when people BROKE INTO CARS for them just a year ago.

  I’m a guy and I agree with the collections can be over consuming. When I’m at my minimum wage job and my coworker is showing me his 4k+ collection of plastic anime figures while also complaining about being in debt from college tuition it’s not collecting anymore, it’s overconsumption.
