You don't need limiting switches. The valve block has a relief valve and the cylinder is rated for the pressure of that little pump. Running it to the end won't hurt anything. Holding the button at the end of stroke for extended period will generate a bunch of heat. Just let go of the button when it hits the end of the cylinder. Good to go. The bounce in the cylinder was likely air as you mentioned

If it was up to me I would add a limit switch to the full out position that switched the A/B solenoid to the B cylinder. That way you could not accidently try and rotate the door unless it is fully opened.
