  My father past away this morning and this was his favorite song. He was a true bull rider from Fort Worth tx his whole life. For everyone who listen to this I pray this gets you through whatever your going through and god bless you.

  My father, brother and I were passing through Amarillo back 2000 or 2001 on the way to anglefire NM and stopped at the Big Texan steakhouse. There was 2 big Ole boys attempting the 72oz steak challenge...and I&apos;ll be damned if Amarillo by morning started on the house radio. Everybody in the steakhouse started singing. 😊<br>My dad and brother are no longer around anymore. I&apos;m the only one in my family who carries that memory.<br>I&apos;m still here, and only God knows why.

  Back in 1980-something, my family was moving from San Diego to Cape Hatteras, NC. My father and I were in one car. My mom and the rest of my siblings were in a pickup. It was predawn, with sun rays just beginning to brighten the horizon, as this song came on the radio. I don&apos;t remember how far outside of Amarillo we were but it was the next big town and I was all of 10 or 11 years old. &nbsp;This was one of those &quot;road trip&quot; memories that I think will stick with me to my dying day. A son and father, sing Amarillo by Morning, with Amarillo almost in sight.

  My dad after 43 years of trucking finally hanged it up and retired and this was the song that closed it up on his last run to Amarillo

  I came here after hearing the phrase Amarillo by morning in a song by Ella Langley called Chosin&apos; Texas. I was just wondering what it was, so I Googled it and found this song. I really liked the song. Thanks to Ella Langley for opening this song to me.

  My Mom and I stopped in Amarillo on the way to Fayetteville, Arkansas. &nbsp;We took a long route because I wanted to have some memories with my Mom. &nbsp;In Amarillo there certainly is a smell of livestock and livestock trucks all over! &nbsp;We ate dinner at the Red Lobster. &nbsp;Our waiter teased me that I was at the wrong place in Amarillo. &nbsp;That we should be eating at a steakhouse in Amarillo. Lol.<br>We also stopped in Albuquerque and stayed the night at the Kirkland Air Force Base in Officers quarters, because my Dad was a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy. &nbsp;The suite was really nice and totally free. &nbsp;My Mom was an officers widow so we looked into free travel options and I was an add on guest. &nbsp;It was several years after 9/11 but security was tight. &nbsp;They were really heckling me at Kirtland Air Force Base but not so much my Mom. &nbsp;Lucky for me I had my Government issued ID as a Wage Mariner in Hawaii from my previous job. My favorite stop along the way was Santa Fe.. &nbsp;I loved Santa Fe and the big church there. &nbsp;My Mom is now in hospice so I can say I have good road trip memories.<br>I didn&apos;t know writing this would make me cry. 😢
