Honest no-nonsense critique like mr Myatt't is really the only way to develope when you have reached a certain stage of craftsmanship. It's the way its done on a higher level of artistic education and it is not bullying - it's honesty!

I love this series. The thing that strikes me most about the modernist era is the energy and passion of the artists. They took control of their art, working brushes and paint, not by what they were looking at but by the way they were feeling at the time. That’s why I love the works of all the modernist movements. Perfection isn’t the aim. It’s how a scene makes you feel that counts.
