  Like the drive down Burwell looking at the trees that grow out over the road. They are squared off from the box trucks keeping them pruned.

  Bremerton, now, is nothing like it was in the early-mid 1990s, when the Navy shut down NAS Alameda in Oakland CA, and moved two carriers (Vinson and Lincoln) to Bremerton, and those carriers brought street gangs with them in the form of their ship&apos;s crew and dependants.<br><br>The murders of gang members Taz and Whizz in 1991 compelled Bremerton police to establish a gang unit focused on identifying street gang members and investigating street gang crime.<br><br>USS Lincoln had a Crips gang onboard called the Lincoln Countryboy Crips.<br><br>In late 1993 or early 1994, there was a reported gang shooting in a house on Callow Ave., directly across the street from a 7-11 store (now a Pho noodle place) in which it was claimed an &quot;undercover Bloods gang member&quot; knocked on the door of an Asian gang house, said, &quot;What&apos;s up cuz?&quot;, and fired a single shot that wounded an Asian gang member and his girlfriend. Police investigation revealed it was an accidental shooting by one of the Asian gangmembers who was playing around with a gun.<br><br>The area north of 11th St and Park Ave used to have a Nazi Skinhead gang house in the mid-1990s. &nbsp;In fact there were gang houses all over the city back then.<br><br>Also in 1995, Bremerton junior high school girl Chalisa Lewis, who came home after school to her home at 9th and Pacific streets, apparently got in somebody&apos;s car, and was murdered. &nbsp;Her body was dumped in Puget Sound where it washed up at Seattle&apos;s Discovery Park.<br><br>Bremerton is Mayberry now compared to back then when it had the highest violent crime rate in the state.

  Zen sushi! Is over there by Wycoff. Such a great restaurant! I live in Bremerton for 35 years in my life it’s really not that bad.. sure we get tweakers. Most of them were from Seattle. They usually keep themselves crazy things happen everywhere. It’s still gorgeous here in the summer. Winter is just as dangerous in anywhere else.

  I don’t see a single jogger, kid on a bike, mom walking a baby in a stroller…something seems off 🤔

  Former security guy here. &nbsp;It&apos;s difficult to talk about crime as just one thing. &nbsp;They are largely lumped into violent crime (what people are usually worried about when they talk about something being &quot;safe&quot;) and property crime. &nbsp;Somebody stabbing you is a much bigger problem than someone stealing your catalytic converter, though both are definitely inconvenient. &nbsp;So while you can walk around almost anywhere in broad daylight without getting mugged, I&apos;ve lived in places where you couldn&apos;t leave anything outside that wasn&apos;t nailed down without somebody coming by and grabbing it. &nbsp;A video like this can be very misleading. &nbsp;I do note while you&apos;re walking around that I don&apos;t see a lot of other people doing the same thing. &nbsp;That can be a red flag.<br><br>If I was considering whether to move to any of these places I would drill down into any &quot;crime&quot; stats to see just what crimes are being reported. &nbsp;Any downtown area is going to have worse stats because of things that don&apos;t even affect individuals (directly at least) like shoplifting and people doing dine and dashes in restaurants. &nbsp;And, yes, go there at night and see what it&apos;s like. &nbsp;You&apos;ll be living there 24 hours a day.

  Again...&quot;east Bremerton is nicer&quot;. &nbsp;I read police reports as part of my job ...I&apos;m gonna stay in West Bremerton.
