  I like a program that went back to see what the English coast looked like in 1066.  Time has changed this area in a way that changed the battlefield possibilities with the lay of the land.  The English Coast is constantly changing in varying ways in the last 10 centuries.

  I've always found the lack of evidence at what we call the Hastings battlefield to be very, very dissatisfying.   Books have been written trying to explain this lack of evidence by proposing alternate sites in the nearby countryside.  The exact location of even the most important battle sites are often lost to history until an accidental discovery occurs.  When that discovery does occur it usually is not far away from what we had thought was the battlefield.   Folk memory can be quite accurate even after a thousand years.    I'd like to know what if any archaeology has been done within several miles of Battle Abbey, particularly along the logical travel routes through the region.

  The scene from the book may never have happened, but I don’t imagine William would have gone any easier on Harold’s home town; he was brutal, wasn’t he?

  The Bayeux Tapestry is not a tapestry but an Embroidery. &nbsp;It is also important to note the difference. Although it has been customary to describe large historic textiles as tapestry it is a misnomer. This fact is also important to those who study historic stitches.

  I&apos;ve been led to believe that I am a descendent of a Sir William de Warrenne who led troops under William the Conqueror. &nbsp;Created 1st Earl of Surrey, his 2nd son, Reginald, is my line. &nbsp;I&apos;d love to confirm this attribution. &nbsp;AND learn more about this person. &nbsp;Does anyone know anything???
