Re-listened and wow what a great show. As a former Canadian Peacekeeper as part of UNPROFOR in 1992-1993 in the former Yugoslavia this show brings up memories and stirs questions - as Paul says I want to know more. Very Well Done. 👍

You should read Eastern Approaches by Fitzroy McLean who was Churchill's man in Yugoslavia and decisions he made

Fascinating glimpse of the deeply complicated and multifaceted issues that surround WWII in the Balkans. More presentations of this quality and depth of research can only advance our knowledge of this important and understudied/stood theatre of the war.

Thank you for scratching the complicated surface od Yugoslav history in secons world war. There are so many great subjects of matter to cover and yet so hard to do when it comes to Yugoslavia.

Great video. As an aside, the movie Force Ten from Navarone delt with this issue. It stared Harrison Ford and Robert Shaw. Thanks.

1:04:50 thank you for doing this great podcast/show. I’ve been fascinated in the general history of Yugoslavia/the balkans since learning about the Second World War as a child (sparking my interest in history) and there is a terrible blind spot on these incredible stories of resistance in our western history narratives (just from the books/documentaries/films I’ve had access to through my life as a Brit). Big thanks again guys! ✊

This was an excellent presentation. As someone who spends a lot of time in the area (especially Croatia) and has studied the 90s conflict, this is an excellent piece of background material. Marko provides as much neutral and objective analysis and understanding as can be expected. A lot of my friends are ex- HV and HOS soldiers from 90s and a few of them desperately try to paint the Ustaše in a different light while others are more willing to except that history has pretty much painted them accurately. Insight on the Četnici is more difficult and Marko explained their background and agenda eloquently. I never realised that the Partizan movement was so strong outside of Srbija. Top stuff.

The Balkans, a hornet's nest then, a hornet's nest now. Great insight.
