Victor was seen by several people at Gales apartment after his death. He became a liability. That’s why he’s dead.

He didn't kill Victor to send a message. He killed Victor because he got seen by people at Gale's murder scene and became a liability.

There are a few things going on. Gus killed Victor for a mix of security risks and psychological intimidation. Remember that Victor was seen at the crime scene by neighbors when he went to Gale Boetticher's apartment after Gale was murdered. His presence led witnesses to give a description to the police, resulting in a composite sketch that put the DEA on notice. Then Victor tried to run a batch of meth on his own in the superlab to prove his worth. Gus valued strict order and discretion. Victor acting on his own initiative showed dangerous overconfidence and a lack of discipline. Plus Gus knew that Victor didn't know what he was actually doing. Gus could not kill Walt or Jesse at that moment because they were the only ones who could cook the blue meth, and Jesse had of course just eliminated Gale. By killing Victor in front of them, Gus showed extreme violence and re-asserted absolute control. It served as a brutal warning of what happens to anyone who steps out of line.

Hank becomes obsessed with collecting minerals to cope with the boredom, trauma, and physical paralysis. Hank is naturally driven by intense focus, so when he was deprived of his regular detective work, his obsessive personality shifted entirely toward geology and rare specimens. Plus that part on TV of the 'growth' of said mineral...kind of resembled the boner that Hank didn't feel so positive about given his issues.

Anthony Hopkins sent a letter to Bryan Cranston saying Breaking Bad is the best ensemble acting he's ever seen. So you're not alone.

That's the thing about this show on your closing... We all know they're actors but the characters are so deep and fleshed out that you're completely absorbed in the entire experience.

I really like that you do two episodes together.

The whole box cutter scene with no dialogue from Gus is so well done. Ratchets the tension up the whole time then delivers.

Marius Stan, who makes his return as Bogdan Wolynetz the car wash owner, isn't an actor. He's a chemist and physicist. He was working at Los Alamos and his kids wanted to be extras in Breaking Bad, so he and his wife took them. All of them got selected as extras in the pilot, but they selected Marius to speak in the role of Bogdan. It was supposed to end there, but the role was expanded due to fan feedback.
